LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 281-278 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 3.88 g, 6 h). Head of Athena facing slightly to right, wearing triple-crested Corinthian helmet adorned with Skylla hurling a stone on the bowl; to left, city monogram. Rev. ՒHPAKΛHIΩN Owl standing to right on olive branch, head facing; to left, APX; to right, club. HN Italy 1418. Van Keuren 121. An unusually attractive example of this often poorly struck issue. Minor flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
